Sib,— -In reference to yout kindly notice of my resignation, will you, in order to dissipate any false impression, give me space to say that, (hough I have been suffering acutely from rheumatism for the laofc four years, jot it. is not the immediate cume of mv retirement. My resignation is a protest — when all otber protests failed —against raffles, lotf.eri°e, art unions, and allsuoh evil methods of disposing of goods for the maintenance of religion. — I ■m, &c., J.
