Slß,— Can you up nny one else inform me what " Antt-Hurahug " is trying to write about,* or what argument be educes? He mush fool Ashamed of himself. BTug he been getting hit corns trid on, or what is he (join 2 on about, trying to disgorfe himself of spleen and trying to •pill it orer a gentleman who perhaps can takf it all and treat it with that oontempt which it justly deserves? •'AntiHumbug's " letter condemns the writer hi roself without judga n jury. The great trouble to him teems to bo that the Presbyterians hare got, 5s from him, and then the awakening with '• Anti-Humbug " begins after he has actually participated in the game. If he is not a little shrewder they will entice him into some more of these questionable ways of raising money for church purposes. I can only compare ♦' Anti»Humbug " to a blind man, bearing a blind black lantern, seeirinsr for a blind blnck pig, all in the darkness. I disapprove of art unit ns for such a cause ; but really there are so many "Anti-Humbugs " I uare nice wita wao would write a rolume of twaddle and point* of little censequence, and of no good to either the writer or any one fllM. But to meet " Anti-Humbug " on fair and equitable grounds, is he only fretting for the loss of his few shillings, or does he wish to introduce some plan that would do away with these pernicious or questionable games? I will, on strict principle, ask " AntiHumbug" to give a donation to the Presbyteriaa building fund, any £5, as a guarantee that he is writing on principle. If he com plies with my idea I will give a like sum «»d refund him his fire shillings, and take his ohance in the art union. By so doing he may be able to retreat from the slippery path, and proceed on a firm footing in tbo righ . direction. KoTBOTer, I do nofc mth "AnfciHumbug" to think that I am boasting or wealthy. I can Mseuta him that I«m poor and honest in principle. If he thinks to get out of this matter decently and honorably I will meet him at your office, and we will send two £5-notes by post to the Seoretary of the Prrihyterian Church, and show them our disapproval of their gambling business. — I am. &c.
