LAWRENCE DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of the Lawrence District High School Committee was held in the County Council Chambers on Wednesday evening. Present — Messrs Harrop (in the chair), Copland, Mitchinson, and J. Thompson (Socretary.) The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. «.; ? , «sf A letter, fxom^Mt Js|imaofieie^ eacl6st&; attendance returns for July and August, and copy of Inspector's annual report, was received. The Secretary read the report, and the Committee expressed themselves highly pleased with the results of the examination. The following account* were passed for payment :— T. M'Kenzie, £1 19s 6d ; T. E. Williams, £3 ; Mrs Fowler, £2 10a. Mr Harrop was appointed^ tp^ sign cheques in the absence of -Mr; Smaill (President). Mr Copland, on behalf of the Works Committee, reported that the various requirements for the buildings and grounds had been properly, attended to, and that j the ventilators placed in the roof of the , Softool were proving very satisfactory. Messrs Harrop and Copland were reelected members of the Visiting Committee for the remainder of the term. The inspectors' reports showed the percentage of passes in the various standards to be as followsf:— I, 100'; TI, 97 fill, 97 ; IV, 91 ; V, 100 ; and VI, 100 ; average for whole school, 97. The attendance return showed the average number on the roll for July to be 279 and the average attendance 251 ; for August, 276 and 238, respectively. A vote of thanks to the chair closed the meeting.
