LATEST PARLIAMENTARY NEWS.

[By TEraaniPH.] Wellington, September 18th. In the Supplementary Estimates now before the Committee are two items— £1000 for Lawrence drainage channel and £750 towards the reconstruction of the Waitahuna bridge. The business of the House will be through to-morrow, and the prorogation will take place next Monday. The Upper House has made important alterations in the Land Bill, affecting the homestead and perpetual leasing systems, which has the appearance of this Bill being withdrawn by the Government. The Legislative Council refuse to give way in their objection to reduce miners' right* in the Mining Bill until the Charitable Aid Bill becomes Kw. The Government agree, at the request of the local member, to continue as usual the subsidy to the Tuapeka Hospital or pay in full the monthly balances. There is £10,000 provided for subsidising rates on goldfields, also another £200 towards prospecting.
