LAWRENCE WESLEYAN SUNDAY SCHOOL PICNIC.
The annual picnic in connection with the Lawrence Wesleyan Sunday School was held on Friday last. At nine a.m. the children and teachers, with a good number of the congregation, met at the Church, and were conveyed in vehicles to a paddock at Beaumont, kindly lent by Mr S. Henry. The ladies had an abundance of good things provided, which were thoroughly appreciated by all. After lunch, games of the usual picnic kind were indulged in till four o'clock, when tea was served, after which the drive was extended to the Little Beaumont, and al) returned safely to Lawrence about eight o'clock, when moat of the young spent an hour or two very pleasantly at the parsonage. An item worthy of notice took place after tea on the picnic ground, when Rev. C. Griffin, on behalf of the teachers and scholars, presented Mr James Treloar with a very neat writing-desk and pencil-case as a token of their appreciation of his services as superintendent for over five years. Mr Treloar thanked them for their kind gift, and said he should ever feel a deep interest in the welfare of . the school. The weather, which was really splendid, contributed greatly to the enjoyment of the day, and all must have returned feeling the better for the outing.
