Telegrams have reached here from Madagascar stating that active hostilities have been resumed by the French fleet under Admiral Galliber. Votamer, a coast town, has been bombarded by the French warships, the principal buildings being burned, and a number of persons, among whom were five British subjects, being killed. The attack was carried on with great severity, and the town was shelled for several hours. A large amount of property owned by neutral natives as well as by Hovas was destroyed.
