Timarxt, August 12th.

Great interest is being taken in the proposed woollen factory at Timaru. The prospectus will be issued in a few days.

Christchurch, August 12th. A weekly paper in the interests of licensed victuallers is to be published here at the beginning of next month. All the patients at the Sunnysido Lnnatic Asylum are to be vaccinated. — ' The Christchurch Medical Soeietyshas appointed a Committee to draw up resolutions expressive df the opinion of the Society as to the necessity for strict inquiry into the number of unvaccinated children,- the absolute necessity foe vaccination of those found unvaccinated or imperfectly so, the extreme importance of re-vaccination, the necessity for hospitals for infectious diseases and of disinfecting chambers in large centres of population, and generally to take steps to bring-the whole subject prominently before the Government.

August 15th. A section of land at the corner of Manchester-street and Bedford Row", close to the business centre of tte town has been sold at the rate of £34,000 per acre. New Plymouth, August 12th, A fire broke, out at 3 o'clock this morning at Mvlrphy's boarding-house, alongside the Odd Fellows' Hall. Before water or much aid could be obtained the fire had a good hold on the building, and then there was no hope for the Odd Fellows' Hall,' which was only separated from the house by a 12-foot passage. There was time, however, to get the piauo and musical instruments belonging to the Philharmonic Society from the hall before it caught 1 fixe ; but nothing could save the building, which was soon in flames.
