WASTE LANDS BOARD

The Board held its regular meeting on Wednesday morning, tha Commissioners present b9ing Messrs Strode (chairman), Butterworth, Clark and Reid. The minutes of the last meeting were read by tbe Clerk and confirmed. KEFTIND QE DEPOSIT. G> T. Thursfcon applied for refund of deposit pnid on deferred-payment section 15, blocK IX., Green vala district, or that t it might be received as rent for section 8, block XL, Crookston. —Declined.

DEHERBED PAYMENTS,

A telegram from the Secretary o£ Crown Lands was considered, having reference to the , setting apart of laud for sale on deferred payments, and suggesting that the Board substitute in their minute, setting such lands apart the words : " Waste Lands Board resolved," instead of •' Waste Lands Board proposes." — It was resolved that with reference to resolution of date December 6th 1876, setting aside land for sale on deferred payments, the words in such resolution " Waste Lands Board proposes " be struck out, and " Waste Lands Board has resolved " substituted. GIiENKENICH DISTRICT. Captain F. W. M'Kenz'e wrote claiming the offer of lands on Run 168, in proclamation of South Glen^enich Hundred, at £1 per acre under clause 14% Otago Waste Lands Act, 1872, — The Board resplved not to recognise any Buch claim as that set forth, and was therefore compelled to decline moving in the matter. With reference to issue of Crown grant for sections 1, 2, 3, 15 to 19, inclusive, block VII, Balclutha township, to the Clutha Agricultural and Pastoral Society, it was resolved to recommend his Excellency the Q-overnor to reserve the sections for the exhibition of cattle, and Agricultural aDd ojher produce, under the 160 th, section of the Waste Lands Act, 1872. - -
