RICCARTON BOROUGH.
The Riccarton Borongh Council met last night, those present being: The Mayor (Mr H. S. S. Kyle. M.P.). Messrs R. G. Maleolmson, H. W\ Wise, F. S. Acland, C. G. McKellar, H. P. Smith. F. George, 11. Odell. T. M. Ford and R. Sargent (town clerk). It was agreed to ask the Unemployment Board If a subsidy could be claimed on the new library building. A donation of £1 Is was made to the Canterbury Surf Life Saving Association. On the Works Committee’s recommendation it was decided to make anplication to the Unemployment Boa. d for a subsidy on the cost of widening Mandeville Street. The council resolved to notify that rates would be made and levied at a meeting on Monday. July 22. the approved list being: General rate 2id. hospital rate 15-16 d, Domains Board rate 1-12 d, Waimakariri River Trust rate 149-2750 d (capital rateable value). Drainage Board rate on sewerage area gd (capital value), and on the area known as rural Riccarton 11-12Sd.
