YACHTING.

Award of Christchurch Club Prizes. Prizes won during - the past season were presented to members of the Christchurch Sailing and Power Boat Club last night by the president, Mr J. W. Beanland, at Dixieland. Mr R. Beveridgfe was in the chair. During the evening- Professor-J. Shelley gave an address on ancient boats, dealing \Adth the craft of ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia and illustrating his talk with lantern slides. He stressed the reverence of the people' of those countries for the riA-ers, which Avere the lifeblood of the lands and figured largely in their conception of hpaven. Songs Avere sung by Messrs H. J. Francis and P. A. Caithness, and Mr W. Lunn Avas at the piano. The folloAving was the list of trophies presented:— Championship cups—A class. Tiki (T. Turner); B class. Rita (R. S.
