BURGLARS ACTIVE.
Several Premises Entered During Week-end. PALMERSTON' NORTH, This Day. Several burglaries occurred in the city at the week-end. On Friday night the municipal library was entered and the sum of £1 and a bunch of keys were stolen. A billiards saloon was also broken into and a few shillings were taken. In the early hours of yesterday morning burglars forced a door at the rear of the State Theatre and ransacked the manager’s office after taking the precaution of cutting the telephone wire, but they obtained only about £2. A confectionery stall was broken open and also a cash register, but there was no money there. A tobacconist’s premises adjoining were entered, but it is not known whether any stock was taken. There was no money on the premises. Between Saturday and Sunday the Piceardilly Tea Rooms vvere entered, but here also no money was available.
