Will Take a Job.

Dear Sir,—Mr Maxwell has told all thoi in need where and how to get coal at blankets. Nothing simpler. Just go alor to the M.R.A. and ask for what you wa« —if you are not too tired—and you get i I don't think. He says the only thir that has got the relief worker down self pity. I wonder what he thinks < men w’ho are ashamed to let their nej door neighbours know they are workir on relief, and there are hundreds of the in Christchurch. Mr Maxwell thinks thi when a shovel leaner has finished his tw or three days for the week he’s fiinishc work. Well let me give him some id« of how things are worked. Last Monda I reported at the unemployment office i 9.15 a.m. Bv the time I had handed my two monthly forms and made an app cation for blankets it was 10.45 a.m. Tb< away to Ferry Road Depot to get a 2s 6 order for coal and arrived at 11.15 an but it was 12.30 when I got to the count* so they closed the book until 1.30 p m., t I had to hang around outside in a 50-mi an hour gale until the officials had the lunch. Self pity he calls it. Yes. I fe like having a crack at a big police sergeai to ease my feelings. All I got for thi day's work was a note for 2s 6d wort of coal that doesn’t last long, and noboc knows when I will get the blankets, wonder if Mr Maxwell will tell me how can get a pair of boots from the M R.A I have been told to come again becaui my toes are not showing. Anyway, I don! want charity. If Mr Maxwell will put m on to a 15s a day job I will guarantee t; swing a 141 b hammer to his satisfactioi All he need do is to phone up the R S 7 Unemployment Office, and he won’t hav to wait long.—l am, etc., TAFF. DAVIES.
