The Shovel Leaners.
Dear Sir, —“ Sentry’s ” question, “If eve ex-service man leaned on his above! wh would happen ? ” should have read, “ every ex-service man did not lean on l shovel what would happen?" He pro ably would fall down through his weaken constitution caused by the impositions the ruling class, who would sacrifice the fellow-creatures on the altar of mamma There should be no question of work for t measly pittance that we receive, whi by right belongs to the unemployed, tl U.B. funds being at present utilised f capitalist concerns. Furthermore “ Sentry’s idea of unemployed conditions is amazii when he fondly believes that for the me asking for it, you receive coal, blanke boots, etc. If he had been on the job Rapaki last week w’here I am “ employee exposed to the full issue of adverse weath conditions, getting soaked through on t« occasions, with wet clothes to dry, 1 “ Sentry " see how far his 2s fid order f coal goes in this kind of weather; also is issued round about once a month, n daily as inferred. As for the blankets sued by the Government Labour Burea and not the M.R.A. as stated, I have hj my application in a fortnight, and like to wait another fortnight. The first isst of blankets by the Government to all the unemployed in the history of unemplo ment was largely due to the struggle ar demand of the unemployed. He also stat that the gang he watched, and he was n< ashamed of watching, did loaf, and the re relief worker would get on better withoi them in their ranks. Does “ Sentry ” real believe the citizens of Christchurch a going to accept him as the judge < whether relief workers are loafers or not?I am, etc., RAPAKI. Two letters by “West Coast Bushman and “ Four Years a Schemer ” have be« held out as libellous.—Ed. “ Star.”
