ROBBERY UNDER ARMS.
TF JUDGES of the Supreme Court require the force of public opinion to strengthen them in their determination to put down robbery under arms they can he sure of a very full measure of it. A three years’ sentence for this offence is not severe. The extreme care that is exercised in the licensing of persons to carry arms is one of the things that make New Zealand a vastly safer and sweeter place to live in than America, and persons with criminal tendencies cannot say that they have not been warned of the consequences of the premeditated carrying of arms, a crazy un-British practice, which even the aristocracy of burglary in Britain have not been foolish enough, in general, to adopt.
