POULTRY SHOW
Arrangements Made by Christchurch Club. The Christchurch Poultry. Pigeon and Canary Club held a meeting in the Fanciers’ Hall last evening. Mr G. H. Bradford presided. The chairman reported on procuring the building for the show. Mr G. H. Nicoll (Ashburton) wrote donating one guinea to the club funds. Mr K. J. Ross, patron of the club, forwarded one guinea to the club. Both donors were accorded a vote of thanks. Thirty-eight new members were elected. The secretary gave the detailed number of entries as follows:—Game 89, open poultry 160, Bantams 198. utility poultry ail. ducks (open and utility) 53, fancy pigeons 163. juniors 23, flying homers 86, juniors 62; canaries, Yorkshires 97, Norwich 99, cage birds 7, Budgerigars 98; cats and kittens, 47; cookery 52, needlework 69, Challenge Stakes poultry 23, canaries 13, kittens 4. Total entry, 2010. Mr G. H. Bradford will Judge the challenge classes. It was agreed to purchase sixty Budgerigar cages for the season’s show. It was agreed that a committee be set up to set out the space for the plant. Messrs R. W. Thompson, C. H. Bull. G. J. Crahbe, D. Kirk, C. Gallop. G. H. Bradford, \V. Cummings, A. W. Pritchard and Haworth were appointed to meet on Wednesday, at 7.30 p.m. Mr W. Hart, of Hastings, donated two blue ribbons for competition in the show. The donor was accorded a vote of thanks. It was decided to hold a smoke concert during the second night of the show. Mr C. Gallop was appointed to make arrangements.
