Nellie Bramley to Present Bright Comedy. Men are often warned to beware of widows, especially the beautiful intriguing type. They are the most- dangerous, it is said, for once they set out to capture a man there is no getting away. Those who do not believe this are urged to see “ Beware of Widows,” the sparkling comedy-drama, which will be presented at the St James Theatre next Saturday’, when the popular actress, Nellie Bramley’, will make her re-ap-pearance in Christchurch, supported by a full metropolitan company’ of selected artists in Broadway's biggest success. This play’ shows how Dr Waller, the heart specialist, is caught in the toils of the dashing widow, and how he hides on the house boat. “ Journey’s End.” at the mouth of the Thames. But the widow finds him and he tries to escape by marrying Ruth Chadwick. The way the widow’ prevents this marriage is told in three acts of hilarious comedy’ interwoven with dramatic situations such as the house boat drifting out to sea, and being wrecked, how all are rescued from being drowned, and the trouble the widow causes on board in her attempts to “ get her man.” Nellie Bramley’, as Joyce Bragdon, the intriguing widow, will be seen at her best, and the company’ appear in the characters that made them popxilar with the theatregoing public of Australia.
