Williams Beats Pereira at Auckland. AN AMAZING BOUT. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, May 27. The amazing spectacle of a wrestler being disqualified in the second round and his opponent being declared the winner and then the contest restarted under the control of another referee, was witnessed at the Town Hall tonight. The contestants were A 1 Pereira (16st 41b) and Cy Williams (16st 51b). The match started under the charge of Mr C. Pollard, who cautioned Williams more than once in the opening round for such illegalities as the use of his knee, hair-pulling and punching. In the second round Williams felled his opponent. several times with rabbit punches in spite of warnings. Mr Pollard Intervened' and awarded a penalty fall to Pereira. This decision greatly incensed f Williams, who rushed with clenched fists a’t his opponent and the pair commenced to fight in mid-ring. After much difficulty the referee, who was severely jostled in the meantime, succeeded in parting the men for sufficient time to raise Pereira’s hand as the winner. Williams being disqualified. Mr Pollard and Williams left the ring. Pereira remained in hjs corner and waved his hand as an indication that lie desired hjs opponent's presence In the ring once more. Officials, ignoring Mr Pollard’s decision, persuaded Williams to return to tlie ring and another referee was obtained. The bout started again and Williams was awarded a fall for a press easily gained after he had felled Pereira a few times with rabbit punches, an action which had earned him disqualification under Mr Pollard's jurisdiction. Following a series of flying tackles, Pereira obtained a reverse leg bar, which won him a submission fall. The second contest ended in the next round with a fall to ‘Williams, who was declared the winner. Thus concluded a rough bout in which victory went to the man who had actually been declared the loser. Krusk&mp Injured. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 27. An interesting wrestling match between Hardy Kruskamp and Glen Wade ended abruptly in the fourth round tonight, when Kruskamp injured himself In a fall against the ropes. The bout was one of tlie hardest and cleanest seen in Wellington.
