LATE SPORTING.

Fernbrook Lass Goes Fast at Addington. TRAINING WORK. The weather was cold for training operations at Addington this morning, but the track was in good order. All the horses travelled about two sulkywidths from the inside rail. The best performances of the series were provided by Fernbrook Lass and Marie Celeste. The journey was one mile. Marie Celeste had a start of about twelve yards from Fernbrook Lass. Marie Celeste made the pace until the straight was reached, where Fernbrook Lass joined her, and they finished on terms. The first half-mile was accomplished in lmin 6sec, and Fernbrook Lass did the mile in 2min 11 3-ssec. Wrecker and Tempest paced two miles, the last mile and a half being covered in 3min .30 l-ssec. Carl trotted a mile and three-quarters in 4min 38sec. C3uy Hugo and Golden Cross were companions over a mile and a quarter in 3 min 15sec. Rey Spec ic Well. Cloudy Range and Rey Spec were associated in a spin over two mi lev. Cloudy Range led for a mile and a half, where Rey Spec took the lead and kept it to the winning post. Rey Spec's f.me was 4min 34 2-ssec. Cloudy Range took 4min .37 4-ssec. Garner trotted two miles in 4min 38sec, the first mile taking 2min 19sec. Bracken, Mountain Dell and Guymond left almost on terms. Bracken acted as pacemaker, but on reaching the mile and a half post Bracken and Mountain Dell were pulled up. Guymond went on to complete two miles in 4min 45sec. The first mile occupied 2min 2Rsec, and the mile and a half 3min 34 l-ssec. Audrey Dillon was ridden a mile by A. D. Chapman. She was accompanied by Wise Guy, who also went in saddle, having the services of A. Butterfield. Fanny Bingen, in harness, worked with them. Audrey Dillon led all the way to register 2mln ISsec, with Wise Guy close tip. Fanny Bingen was two lengths further away. Golden Direct and Graham Direct set out on a mile and a half journey. Golden Direct showed the way for a mile and a quarter, where he was pulled up, leaving Graham Direct to finish the journey. The first mile took 2min 25sec, mile and a quarter 2min f»7sec. Graham Direct recorded 3min 34sec. General Wrack and Iraq were worked in saddle. Their mission was a mile In 2min 22see, going at an even speed all the way. Princess Onyx Returns From Sydney. The three-year-old trotting filly Princess Onyx returned from Sydney this morning. After her unsuccessful attempt to win the Sydney Derby, in which she finished second, she met with an accident on a road. At one time it was thought that it would be serious, but the affected part has yielded to treatment and it is expected that she will be able to resume work under her owner, J. J. Fair Amount of Schooling To-day. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, This Day. After light rain overnight the weather was fine, though dull, for training at Ellerslie this morning. The No. 1 grass track was available for fast work and hurdles were erected on the outside of the course proper, while those in the centre were also available. The steeplechase course was also open and there " a fa ' r amount of schooling. The going was heavy on the Vo 1 grass track. Thespis went round ’in -min 8 2-ssec, the last six furlongs takmg lmin 2i) 2-ssee, and the final halfmne 58 4—jsec. Versant, after running the first three in 39 3-ssec, got to the end of six furlongs in lmin 18 4-ssec, the best of the morning over the distance. Tybalt, who looks none the worse for his efforts at Te Rapa, went round in 2min 13sec very easily. On Parade had the measure of Teddy Boy, with Air Lassie a couple of lengths awav over five furlongs, which were covered m lmin 6 2-ssee. Supreme Ruler went five furlongs in lmin 7 3-ssec. Lord \al worked steadily over a round, averaging 15see to the furlong. King I 'V in, who had a similar task, looks improved as a result of recent racing. Best of Morning. The best round of the morning was credited to Kiltowyn. who was just in front of Horowhenua in lmin .35 3-ssec, the last six furlongs being covered in lmin 20 3-ssec. Both went well. After schooling United ran half a mile in 54 l-ssee. Baroscope was in front of Jewelled Girdle over six furlongs. Cargen and Chile were on terms the latter going the better round in 2mln - l-ssec. Solario covered six furlongs in linln 19 2-ssec. Abbey Feale assisted him by running the last half-mile in ;>2 1-ssee. King Musk, was under restraint throughout a round. Valpeen completed a round in 2min 5 l-ssec. doing the last six furlongs in lmin 28 l-ssec and the final half-mile in 57see. Billy Boy went round in 2min 5 4-ssec, the last six furlongs in lmin 28 l-ssee. The Hurdlers. • The hurdlers worked o» the course proper. Karangapai. Volition. Arabesque and United started over five hurdles. United ran off at the first, hut followed on and baulked at the second and was not further persevered with. Tiie other three continued on. Karangapai and Volition were nearly on terms when they took the last hurdle, with Arabesque some lengths away. The last-named fell after landing over the last fence. From hurdle to hurdle they took 2min 2.3 l-ssee. Karangapai and Volition fenced well. g Wee Fat’s Hurdle Work. Wee Pat had Kilmuir as a companion over five hurdles and completed the task in 2min 27 3-ssec, Wee Pat outjumping his stablemate. Adsum and Glenhaupo were sent over four hurdles, Adsum giving a good exhibition. The Sun (Craddock) and D’Artagnan (Sharkey) were associated over five hurdles. They kept together till the fourth obstacle, where D’Artagnan slipped on landing and The Sun finished a long way in front in 2min 27sec. Over the Steeples. Gaseelle, Ali, Zane Grey, Domo and Cornerman were given a round over the steeplechase country and finished up the task safely. Gaseelle was in front at the finish, the display being the best 1 he has yet given. Verden (F. Thomp- ! son) went alone over a round of the j steeplechase course, starling at the* sod I wall and finishing up by jumping the fences on the flat. The second time he jumped safely, hut again lost ground ; at the two obstacles on the hill. Two Scratchings. ■ Arrivals include Stanchion, King Win. Valpeen, Prince Val and Cromwell. Chang and Grand Score were scratched 1 for all engagements at 11.25 a.m.
