DAHLIA SHOW.

The Canterbury Horticultural Society will stage its first dahlia show in the Automobile Rooms on Thursday and Friday next. Other societies in New Zealand make a feati»re of this fixture, but up till now, Canterbury has not held a separate show for the increasingly popular flower. Canterbury growers during the past few years have made great strides in the cultivation of the dahlia. Entries have been received from as far abroad as Timaru. and displays for exhibition only will be staged by Mr J. Grange (Timaru) and Sir R. Heaton Rhodes (Elmwood). Thirty competitors have entered, and 200 exhibits will be staged. The show will be open from 2 p.m. till 10 p.m. on Thursday, and from 10 a.m. till 10 p.m. on Friday.
