The weakness of the bowling formed the basis of the comment on the standard of women's cricket in New Zealand, which was made bv Miss E Archdale. captain of the English women's team, when interviewed after the game yesterday afternoon. “ In all our matches the bowling lacked sting,” said Miss Archdale. "Near-

ly all the bowlers seemed to have no definite plan of attack. They just sent the ball down and hoped that we would miss it.” Several bowlers were excluded from this statement by the English captain, and she mentioned Miss H. Miller, Otago’s fast bowler, and Miss R. Symons, the New Zealand captain, as two of the best the team had played against. Miss Archdale also said that the New Zealand players were generally neat and quick in the field. She thought the fielding of the New Zealand side was good yesterday, but admitted its weakness on the first day of the match. The New Zealand batting was also praised, and Miss Archdale singled out Miss M. Corby, of Wanganui, and Misses M. Bishop and M. Ilollis, of Otago, as three stylish players. Commenting on the possibility of further visits to Australia and New Zealand by English teams. Miss Archdale said that it was probable they would be continued. “They won’t be very regular, but they will go on,” she continued. “Visits like ours will do a great dfeal of good for women’s cricket in both countries.”
