In the Trial Handicap they elected Great Admiral a staunch favourite, and there was good support for Mute and Audo Patch. The start was a general mix-up, practically all the field breaking and Mute galloping off the mark. Mute was in front when he settled down, attended by Audo Patch, \oung Rodney, Waikato Prince and Meadow King. Mute was still in charge as they came round to the stands, followed by Young Rodney, Audo Patch and Waikato Prince, with a gap of 100 yards to Great Admiral. Audo Patch then put in a fast run and was the pilot as they raced along the back from Mute, Meadow King (breaking), Young Rodney and Waikato Prince. The order was much the same into the straight, but Mute then came through to head Audo Patch in the run home, and win by half a length with \ oung Rodney five lengths away third. W aikato Prince, Great Admiral and Meadow King were next to finish. Waiheke Handicap. In the Waiheke Handicap most money came for Proletarian, Rare Rey and Muriel Bond. Muriel Bond- and Orwell broke at the start, and when the field settled down the order was Proletarian, Derby Fame, Cherril (breaking), Muriel Bond, Kia Kaha, Star Pronto and Winaway. Proletarian was just clear as they came round to the stands, being attended by Derby Fame, Muriel Bond, Star Pronto, Kia Kaha, Winaway, Aerial Bell and Rare Rey. Star Pronto moved up sharply as they turned out of the straight and was followed by Proletarian along the back, with Rare Rey making a run from the back. Star Pronto was in charge as they came across the top. Then came Proletarian, Derby Fame, Rare- Rey, Winaway and Muriel Bond. Proletarian dropped back into third place as they came into the straight, otherwise there was no alteration. Just when he appeared to have the race won 30yds from the post Star Pronto Broke and Rare Rey finished on to beat him by a length and a half, with Proletarian half a length away third. Winaway was fourth. Then came Derby Fame, Aerial Bell, Kia Kaha, Muriel Bond, Dillon Bond and Orwell. Otahuhu Handicap. In the Otahuhu Handicap, Worthy Light was a warm favourite, the next in request being Impromptu and Kewpie’s Guy. Kewpie's Guy and Willie Derby skipped at the start, but soon settled down, and Raydus was in charge when they came round to the stands from Willie Derby and Impromptu (together), Worthy Light, Auto Machine, Kewpie’s Guy and Jewel Pointer. Impromptu broke as they crossed the top, while Kewpie’s Guy put in a fast run from the back. When they came round again Kewpie’s Guy was the pilot, attended by Raydus (who was dropping back), Impromptu, Willie Derby, Worthy Light, Auto Machine and Jewel Pointer. Raydus \vas back in last position as they went along the back, there being no other alteration in the running. The order into the straight was Worthy Light and Kewpie’s Guy (together). Willie Derbv, Jewel Pointer, Auto Machine, Impromptu and Raydus. Willie Derby challenged strongly in the run to the post, but failed to reach Worthy Light by a neck. Jewel Pointer was half a length away third. Kewpie’s Guy was a head away fourth. Then came Auto Machine. Impromptu and Ravdus. Papakura Handicap. In the Papakura Handicap the bestbacked were Ring True. Plain Pearl '»«->d Edna Worthy. Te Mahanga an'-' Edna Worthy were slow to strike a gait, and after they had gone a furlong the order was Guid Hairst, Edna Worthy, Plain Pearl, Ring True, Te Mahanga and Gumdigger. Guid Hairst

was still in front as they came round to the stands, being a length clear of Edna Worthy, Ring True, Plain Pearl, Te Mahanga, Manco and Gumdigger. Guid Hairst, Ring True, Edna Worthy and Plain Pearl were racing in that order along the back, but Ring True was in front of Plain Pearl, Guid Hairst and Te Mahanga across the top. Ring True was four lengths clear of Plain Pearl as they turned for home, with a gap of six lengths to Guid Hairst, Edna Worthy, Te Mahanga and Jackie Thorpe Nothing had a chance with Ring True, who won as he liked from Plain Pearl, with Jackie Thorpe a length and a quarter away. Gumdigger, Guid Hairst, Manco and Nelson de Oro w r ere next to finish. Mount Albert Handicap. In the Mount Albert Handicap, the favourites were Rayon d’Or and Aircraft, the winner, Bonnie Direct, being sixth fancy. Rayon d’Or and Bonnie Direct lost a little ground, and when the field settled down the order was Aircraft, Lucky Love, Peter Junior, Peter Chenault, and Rayon d’Or. Lucky Love then took charge and piloted the field past the stands from Trymint, Aircraft and Peter Junior (together), Min Bells, Rayon d’Or, Bonnie Direct, and Fisher. Lucky Love was just clear of Aircraft as the field went along the back. This pair were attended by Peter Junior, Min Bells, Trymint, Bonnie Direct and Rayon d’Or. The field underwent some changes as they turned for home, and the order into the straight was Aircraft, Bonnie Direct, Peter Junior, Lucky Love and Rayon d’Or. The last-named then put in his run, but failed to reach Bonnie Direct by two and a half lengths. Peter Junior was a length and a half away third. Aircraft was fourth and then came Fisher, Lucky Love and Kewpie’s King. February Handicap. In the February Handicap, the chief fancies were Te Kahu, Rustle and Manna’s Son. All left the mark. Te Kahu, Autumn Lu and Mountain Sun were prominent early and Te Kahu led at the end of a circuit from Mountain Sun, Manna’s Soil and Gala Day, who broke at this stage. Rustle ran into fourth place along the back and the order across the top was Te Kahu, Mountain Sun, Manna’s Son and Rustle. Mountain Sun came through when the field straightened up and went on to beat Rustle by a length and a half, with Te Kahu two lengths away.
