The Dunedin Jockey Club’s meeting was concluded to-day in dull but fine weather. There was a large attendance and the track was in good order. (Special to the ” Star.”) WINGATUI, This Day. The weather was overcast and chilly and the attendance good for the second day of the Dunedin meeting. The track was hard and fast. Black Duke, the first day’s winner, raised I lib, ag?m won the hurdles comfortably. Morer.a was soon in front followed by Prince Tractor, Turbine, Black Duke and Red Lance. Morena held a good advantage down the back where Turbine made a bad jump and Palmary improved to be second. Palmary meaded Morena half a mile from home and Black Duke also soon passed the tiring Morena. Palmary was first to approach the last hurdle, but ran it down and Black Duke was practically on terms when they landed. Morena and Red Lance were next. Black Duke was too strong in the run home and beat Palmary by two lengths. Red Lance, seven lengths away, was third, followed by Lycidas and Umtali. Novice Handicap. A rank outsider, Hauteur, set the pace in the Novice Handicap, led into the straight and then tired. Pala Melba finished extra well and won nicely from Coatette, with Waipounamu close up third. The peculiarly named winner is by Paladin from Madam Melba. She paid big dividends Flying Handicap. Grecian Prince again gave trouble at the barrier and got away poorly in the Flying Handicap. First Song and Trivet appeared to collide at the jump away and both lost ground. Cherry Queen led early from Meadow Lark, Last Link and Enwood. Cherry Queen continued to make play and led into the straight from Grecian Prince, Trivet. Enwood, Kemal Pasha and Grand Finale. The last named finished best and won by threequarters of a length from Kemal Pasha, with Cherry Queen a similar margin away. Jockey Club Handicap. Cuddle, the favourite for the Jockey Club Handicap, was made plenty of use of, considering her weight. She stopped in the run home. Semper Paratus made the running and hung on well. Silver Sight was better placed than usual throughout the race. Cuddle hit the front, but inside the distance Silver Sight secured the lead. Near the home turn Guarantee came fast from the rear, but Silver Sight won by nearly a length in time equalling the track record. Semper Paratus was a good third. Then came Hunting Go, Cuddle and Steeton. Abbotsford Handicap. Colossian, the favourite for the Abbotsford Handicap, never flattered his supporters, but Epris, the second choice, got to the front early, remained there and won easily from Imperial Spear, who finished well, and Beam.
