Administration Society’s Annual Meeting. Mr C. G. S. Ellis pre.sided over the first annual meeting of the Public Service Administration Society, which was held in the Provincial Council Chambers last night and when the constitution of the proposed Dominion Institute was considered and adopted. The annual report stated that the society came into being with an initial membership of twenty-seven, comprising officers from the Lands and Survey, Scientific and Industrial Research, Railways, Mental Hospitals, Post and Telegraph. bands and Deeds, Public Trust. State Fire Offices, Official Assignee and Pensions Departments. The membership increased during the year to sixtyfive. the following additional Departments then being represented—Agriculture, Justice, Public Works. Conciliation Commissioner’s and Valuation. One of the aims of the society Is to foster the establishment of a university chair or lectureship in Public Administration, and some essential preliminary ground has been covered in this direction in the form of the proposed provision of a university diploma in Public Administration. Here again the willing co-operation of the members of the staff of Canterbury College has made progress possible. They undertook the task of drawing up the syllabus of a course for the diploma, which the executive hope and anticipates will be provided not later than in the 1036 university Shortly after the formation of the society in Christchurch, some officers in Wellington inaugurated a society on similar lines, tinder the name “The New Zealand Public Administration Society (Wellington).” Election of Officers. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr C. G. S. Ellis; active vice-president, Mr H. F. Robertson: honorary vice-presidents. Dr ,1. Hight and Messrs F. W. Furby. A. R. Jordan, A. L. B. Ross and E. S. Brittenden: honorary secretary, Mr J. b. Robson; honorary treasurer, Mr G. A. Milne; honorary auditor, Mr O. 11. Burns - committee. Messrs G. A. K. Simmers. 11. F. Baird, R. T. Barnett, J. G. Anderson and H. Grmrod.
