RIPPED BY SHARK?
Young Lifesaver’s Strange Injury. COLLAPSED ON BEACII. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received February 15, noon ) SYDNEY, This Day. D’Arcy Lorenz, twenty, a lifesaver at Austinmer, had his left thigh ripped open by a shark, or big fish, as he shot a breaker to the beach. Despite the pain of his wound, which was eight inches long and three inches deep, Lorenz managed to walk up the beach, and then collapsed. He was sent to hospital and operated on. It is believed that Lorenz was brushed by the fin of a shark, but it is also suggested that a swordfish may have been responsible.
