South Canterbury Tourney Opens. PAIRS AND SINGLES. (Special to the “ Star.”) TIMARU, February 14. The South Canterbury Bowling Centre’s annual ’pairs and singles tourney was commenced to-day. Edgeware Club. Ives and Gagliardi defeated Legg and Eft’ord in the final of the champion pairs competition controlled by the Edgeware Bowling Club. In the champion singles yet to be completed Efford (two lives), Henry, Keen and Chatfield remain in, and in the champion rinks three rinks remain in, Legg, Burns, Matson, Efford (s), Pearce, Spiers, Gagliardi, Ives (s) and Richardson, Kennedy, Gosncy, Henry (s). Mr W. Kennedy has been appointed greenkeeper to the Edgeware Bowling and Croquet Club. Thirty-two applications were received for the position. The Simes Cup competition for rinks' is nearly finished, and on the return of the clubs’ representatives from the West Coast tournament it is expected that all the competitions will be pushed forward and brought to finality. R.S.A. Club. The final game in the champion doubles was concluded on Wednesday night, J. Baird and J. Gibson v. A. Heather and F. Drake. After a good exhibition of bowling the former pair won, the score being: Gibson 29, Drake 23. Night Tourney. An electric light bowling tournament played on the Kaiapoi Working Men’s Club green last night was won by R.S.A.. represented by Chapman. Elwood, Stanley and M’Lean (s.).
