“ON WITH THE SHOW.”

Frank Neil’s Second Big Revue. New Faces,’ the J. C. WilliamsonFrank Neil revue, which is drawing crowded houses nightly to the Theatre, “oval, will be presented finally tonight. To-morrow night this talented band of international stars will present “ On With the Show,” which is said to be even more entertaining and spectacular than the present production. Writing of this revue, the “ Evening Post,” Wellington, said:—“Another crowded Saturday night audience, quick to applaud the points of the performance, greeted the new programme (‘ On With the Show ’) of the Frank Neil Variety Company at the Grand Opera House. As on the opening night, players and audience were quickly on good terms with each other, and the atmosphere reminded one of the good old days of shows and showmanship in the variety line. The crazy acrobatic dancers, Nice, Florio and Lubow, the originality of whose turn caused a sensation last week, made a contribution with new falls and slips. . . . Another act that was cheered with every step of its progress was the statuary, balancing and graceful acrobacy of ‘ Les Diamondes,’ who wear a glittering mixture of something that reflects light of whatever colour the lighting service provides. ... In comedy, too, there was no lack of quality. Joey Porter’s assumption of musicianly rage in ‘ The Fiddler,’ when cross-examined by a small boy about the physical qualities of his help ved violin, was a fine piece of burlesque. . . .” Although the company is due in Sydney at an early date, which necessitates the limiting of the Christchurch season to ten nights, the management has made arrangements to present a third revue, “ Better Times.” This has been described by critics as “ a crazy night of fun and laughter,” for in it the players exchange parts and cause endless amusement. “Better Times ” will begin at the matinee next Wednesday, and the company’s final performance will be given that night. There will be a matinee on Saturday, to which one child will be admitted free with every adult.
