GREEN VEGETABLES SCARCE.

The scarcity of green vegetables is becoming acute and supplies are practically nil. Prices have remained unaltered, but it appears as if housewives will soon be unable to purchase cabbage, cauliflowers. lettuce and other similar lines. Fruit is in good supply and prices are unchanged since last week. Egg prices are still at Is 3d for firsts, Is 2d for seconds and lOd for pullets. There is no change in meat prices. Fish is in medium supply and prices remain firm. Salmon is temporarily off the market, though nominally quoted at 2s a lb. Quotations are:—
