BOROUGH PICNIC.

Arrangements Completed at Brighton. The final meeting of the New Brighton Borough Picnic Committee was held last night in the New Brighton District High School. The chairman (Mr A. E. Lawry) presided. The chairman reported that arrangements were well In hand and that special trams had been arranged to transport up to 1000 picnickers leaving the Pier at 9 a.m. on February 20 and returning from the Racecourse at 5.30 p.m. Mr F. D. Muirson, on behalf of the Borough Council employees, reported that they anticipated being able to hand over the sum of £lO plus orders to the value of over £1 as the result of their canvass of the business houses in the borough. The head master reported that a comprehensive programme of sports events had been arranged for the scholars and the sum of £5 was voted towards the prizes. Messrs Larcombe and Stapleton were appointed a sub-committee to arrange a sports programme for the adults.
