TRICKY WICKET.

English Bowlers Puzzle West Indies. WYATT’S RUSE. (Received January 10, 2.40 p.m.) BARBADOS, January 9. Owing to rain there was no piav before lunch in the test match between England and the West Indies. The fast bowler Hylton made the ball jump, dismissing Hammond with his second ball. Ilolmes weakly stroked the next ball and was neatly caught. Though still 21 behind Wyatt immediately declared after seven minutes batting, as he was eager to get his bowlers on the tricky wicket. G. Grant, the West Indies captain, changed the batting order, hoping that the wicket would improve. Smith dismissed the opening batsmen. R. Grant and Martindale, only fours runs showing on the board, all extras. Smith next bowled Achong with a full-toss and the score was unchanged.
