SMALL FISH SCARCE.

Several Varieties of Fruit and Vegetables Not Available.

SHORTER SUPPLY OF FIRST-GRADE EGGS.

There is a scarcity of small fish on the market. Other sorts are in fair supply and prices for them are slightly lower than last week’s rates. First grade eggs are not as plentiful as formerly. Most of those coming forward are pullets’ eggs, which are classed as second grade. Prices remain the same. Several varieties of fruit and vegetables which were available over the Christmas period are now off the market. Fruit which is not available includes jam raspberries, currants, pineapples, gooseberries and Australian oranges; while in the vegetable section broad beans are finished. Local tomatoes are cheaper than was the case last week, as are grapefruit and local grapes. Quotations are: Meat. Mutton— Per lb.
