.Z. Breweries Move Ahead. MOUNT LYELL DOWN. MODERATE RANGE OF SALES TODAY. A good range of business in misellaneous and mining shares was put hrough this morning on ’Change, hough the market was very quiet for jovernment, banking and financial Bank of Xew Zealand, after doing business yesterday at 49s Id, were firm rith buyers Id below that figure and ;ellers 2d above. Reserve Bank looked itronger, sellers failing to come on the narket in reply to buyers at £6 11s National of Xew Zealand, ex dividend, vere on offer at 7ls. Insurances were quiet and so were oan and agency issues. Dalgety sellers owered their limits and the scrip was >n offer at £8 11s 6d with no buyers. This scrip has improved substantially in :he few calls already held this year. Other brewery scrip was very firm, buyers of Staples offering 33s 9d without response. Timaru (7s 6d paid), sellers held at 8s 2d, buyers 2d behind :hem. In miscellaneous issues Anthony dordem continued to command very rtrong offers. Amalgamated Wireless :ontributing shares again changed at late rates: but British Tobacco were weaker, selling at 40s, after which the market showed more on ?ffer at that price, buyers 2d away. Business on the Sto*-k Exchange, :hoiigh still below normal, is gradually ncreasing, and a good list of sales was recorded at the afternoon call yesterday. Only three were added at. the irst call this morning, but biddings rovered a wider range of values, which senerally were well up to those ruling >efore the holidays. Any changes appear to favour holders. At this morning's call there was a ;ood demand in the banking section. Vew Zealands sold 2d better at 495, ifter which the market settled between 18s 9d and 49s 3d. Reserves failed to told the latest rise and were quoted tetween £6 11s 3d and £6 12s. A buyer came in for Colonial Sugars j it £42 5s 2d, and holders moved up to i £42 15s 2d. Waihis were firm between 38s 6d and (9s 6d. Government stocks were firm and had uvers for all lines, but the only offeree was a parcel of 1955 Bonds, for , vhich holders wanted £llO 10s.
