NEW RADIO STATION.
Contract for Transmitter at Dunedin. Amalgamated Wireless. Ltd. (Australasia), are the successful tenderers for the new transmitter to be erected at Highcliff, Otago Peninsula The new transmitter will serve Dunedin and the area in the vicinity. This announcement has been made by the Broadcasting Board. The new transmitter will have a power of 10 kilowatts and will carry the very latest in instruments. The aerial will be of the unbrella type, following the success met with the one installed at Auckland. No change will be made in the wave-length. The date of the opening of the new station has not been announced, but the authorities are confident that it will be operating well before the end of the year. A 10 kilowatt transmitter built at Henderson for IYA may now lie installed at Gebbie’s Pass for 3YA. It is expected that by the end of the year three stations of 10 kilowatts will be in use in New Zealand.
