An example of sportsmanship was revealed in the tennis singles vesterdav in the Turnbull-M'Grath match. When the game was two sets all M’Grath. who was off colour, intended to forfeit but was persuaded by Turnbull to have a rest, which he accepted unwillingly. When the match was resumed M’Grath clinched the match. Had Turnbull accepted M’Grath’s forfeit he would have met Perry in the semi-final. Turnbull’s sportsmanship was one of the happiest features of the championships.
