WEDDINGS.
Bride and Groom Fly to Ceremony. FU RKERT—POWER-COLLINS. The wedding of Edith Elizabeth Marie Power-Collins, elder daughter of Mrs A. G. Fordham, Seatoun Heights Road, Wellington, to Bruce Roden Furlcert, youngest son of Mr F. W. Furkert, Matai Road, Hataitai, Wellington, took place yesterday at Rotherham. The marriage is probably the only one celebrated in New Zealand in which the bride and bridegroom both flew to the scene of the ceremony. Both Mr and Mrs Furkert are wellknown members of the Wellington Aero Club, and as they wished to be married by their friend, the Rev Ernest B Moore, of Rotherham, who was unable to go to Wellington, they flew to his parish for the ceremony, the bride arriving a few days earlier than the bridegroom. St Mark’s Church had been beautifully decorated with white flowers and blue hydrangeas. Mrs Fordham escorted her daughter, who wore a powder-blue ensemble of ribbed satin, made in Russian tunic style, with a full-sleeved white Russian blouse, the tunic being laced with white. Her hat was of white straw. Miss Josephine Power-Collins, who attended the bride, wore a lemon-colour-ed suit and a hat to match. FlightLieutenant G. B. Bolt was best man. A reception was held at the Rotherham Hotel, the guests being received by the bride’s mother, who wore a navy blue and white frock, a navy coat, and a hat to match. Later, Mr and Mrs B. R. Furkert left by aeroplane for Wellington. LATHAM—O’FARRELL. *• The marriage was celebrated recently at St Mary’s Church, Addington, of Marion Florence, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs Prescott O’Farrell, and Thomas, elder son of Mr and Mrs Latham, both of Addington. The Rev S. J. Cooper was the officiating clergyman and Mrs Loe was the organist. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of ivory satin beaute and lace, made on classical lines. The unusual sleeves were made with folded puffs at the elbow -and then fitted tightly to the wrists. A large soft bow was placed at the back of the waist line, and the neck was finished with a bow of orange blossom. Her veil of embroidered brussels net was worn with a lace cap and was held with sprays of orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of carnations and begonias. Mis Ruth Latham, sister of the bridegroom, attended the bride. She wore a pretty frock of delphinium blue figured silk georgette, and a large blue hat. tier bouquet was of orange and lemon shaded carnations and abutilons. Mr George M’Lay was best man. The reception was held at Dixieland. The bride’s mother wore a black and white ensemble and carrying a bouquet of red carnations, and abutilons. The bridegroom’s mother also wore a black and white ensemble, and carried a bouquet of scarlet roses. For travelling the bride wore a navy blue costume with a smocked white crepe de chine blouse. Her navy hat was of pedal straw.
