LINESMAN BADLY HURT.
Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, December 10. Severe injuries were sustained by a married man named Thomas Kidd, aged fifty, of Wyndham, when he came in contact with a power line carrying 6000 volts, this afternoon. A member of the Southland County Council’s bridge gang, Kidd was working on a 36ft derrick near Niagara, when he :'ame in contact with the power line. He was thrown to the ground and into the creek, the shock knocking him unconscious. He sustained a spinal injury as well as a broken ankle bone, also bruises and chest injuries. The injured man was admitted to Southland Hospital this evening and an X-ray examination will be made to-morrow.
