EROICA CLUB.
Interesting Programme Presented. For their second recital the DFrfarming members of the Eroica Club, selected an excellent list of works from the classical composers. Their programme last night was one of the Des: yet given by the club, and reflected great credit ‘on the exevcutive. ‘ Members were offered works from ‘Beethoven, Mendelssohn. Chopin. Schu~ ‘mann and from the modems. Ravel and ‘Debussy. At a future recital it would be a fine thing to hear a full concerto, ‘instead of only one or two movements. ‘ There was a. large audience. ‘ Two movements from Beethoven‘s ‘Concerto in E Flat, were played by Miss lElla Thomson, who developed the theme :along sound lines. In the adagio there ‘was hardly enough tonal quality. 3 bliss Alice Carter provided a well~ balanced accompaniment. Some excellent technique was shown by Miss Jean M'Leod in Andante and Rondo Capriccioso (Mendelssohn) It is a brilliant piece. and the pianist was equal to the demands, especially in her fingering, which was clean and rapid. Debussy's "Poissons d’Or" had a. real Debussy atmosphere, the grace and lightness of Miss Dorothy Liebert's touch suiting the atmosphere of the composition. Schumann's difficult "Etudes Symphoniques" had no terrors for Miss Ali—son Alison. The many studies showed Miss Allson to be an excellent artist. Miss Edith R. Ford. assisted by )liss Alice Hewlett on a second piano. gave a refined performance of “Allegro 31365toso" from Chopin‘s "Concerto in E Minor." Her playing was impressive, as was Miss Hewlett's excellent accompaniment. Master Peter Cooper, one of the young—est members of the club, caught the right Spirit in “Tango,“ and “The Juggleress" (Moszkowflci). A broad tone. with some clever fingering in the cross-rhythm. were included in Miss Edna Firth's_nla.\'ing of “Fah—tasie Imnromptu" (Chonin). ”Introduction and Allegra" (Ravel) was “'9“ performed by Miss Audrey Ruddock. MiSS Millicent O‘Gradv (soprano) Sam: two PYcernts from “La Fcrza del Destina." She had an Opportunity to disnlnr her fine technique.
