Stefani in Great Form at Championships.
United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, December 10. The Victorian lawn tennis championships were continued to-day with the following results:— Stefani defeated B. Fitcliett, 6-3, 6-0, 6-1. Perry defeated Tonkin, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4. Crawford defeated Hassett, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3. Doubles—Turnbull and Quist defeated B. Fitcliett and T. Fitehett., score® not. given; Clemenger and Kay beat Bromwich and Huxley, 9-7, 6-3, 15-13; Perry and Hughes beat Weston and Ennis, 6r2, 6-4, 6-2. Women’s Doubles—Misses Chitty and Bellamy defeated Mies Macfarlane and Mrs M’Kay, 6-4, 6-3. Stefani gave an impressive display, maintaining perfect length and getting extraordinarily wide angles on his ground strokes by using either hand. He is said to be the only first-clase player in the world playing normal forehand shots on either hand. Crawford always had his match well in hand, using a splendid length.
