Byrd’s Plane Flies South with Supply.
LITTLE AMERICA, December 9. Hoping that the good flying weather might last, Rear-Admiral R. E. Byrd dispatched the Curtiss Condor biplane, under command of Lieutenant Harold June, on an extensive aerial exploration over the unknown coastline of Marie Byrd Land; but when sixty-five miles out fog enveloped the craft, making it necessary to return to camp. Later in the day, however, a supply of 150 gallons of petrol -was successfully taken to a cache 120 nautical miles from Little America, w’here it was left for the tractor party, which is reported to be running short of fuel.
