AIDING MINING.
Subsidy Scheme Adopted in Commonwealth. £403.000 TO BE SPENT. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received December 10, 11.30 a.m.) CANBERRA, This Day. Cabinet has adopted a plan submitted by Mr F. H. Stewart, involving a Federal subsidy of £403,000 for the encouragement r of mining within the Commonwealth. The money will be used for extending the practice of sustenance prospecting, making advances to struggling enterprises with reasonable prospects of success, the provision of batteries and other treatment plants where these facilities are not now available and the strengthening of the geological and other technical staffs. It is anticipated that 5500 additional men will be absorbed in the industry.
