EXTRAORDINARY CASE.’
Opinion of Man’s Attitude to Constable.
A case that was described by the police as “ extraordinary ” was that in which Edwin Eric Greig was charged in the Police Court this morning with behaving in a disorderly manner in Colombo Street. The accused, who was represented by Mr Tracy, pleaded not guilty and was remanded until Thursday with bail of £5 and one surety of £5. Counsel’s application for the suppression of Greig’s name was refused. Sub-Inspector M’Lean said that the case was an extraordinary one where a young man took advantage of his position through alcohol and behaved in such a way that a constable found it necessary to issue a warning. The accused showed his thanks by saying that he would probably meet the constable in plain clothes at a later date to settle the argument. The constable then promptly arrested the man.
