LICENSE SUSPENDED.
Man Intoxicated in Charge of Truck. Cumming Johnstone, a labourer, for being intoxicated in charge of a truck in High Street on December 8, was lined £lO and costs and his license was suspended for six months by Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., this morning. The police stated that the accused was accosted by a constable, who found him intoxicated- A plea of guilty was entered. To the Magistrate, the accused said the truck was his own and was used mostly for pleasure. In fining Johnstone, the Magistrate said such conduct could not be tolerated in the city streets. The accused was ordered to pay the amount by instalments, £4 within seven days and £2 per week thereafter. Default of payment was fixed at one month’s imprisonment.
