QUEEN CARNIVAL.
Spreydon School Scheme to Raise Funds. With all clue pomp and ceremony, Miss Jean Austin, of Standard ITT., Spreydon School, was crowned Queen at a successful function in the Addington Trotting Club's pavilion on Saturday night. Master Jim le Compte occupied the King’s throne, before an audience of over 500. Besides a programme of orchestral selections, there were several exhibition dances by Miss Muriel Waugh’s pupils, the concert Items being as follows: Chinese dance. Miss Hoben's class; folk dancing, infants’ class; Maxfna dance. Miss Cossar; hornpipe, Miss Irene Reed: jig, the Misses I orraine and Paulene Lagan; song. Mr Smith; humorous recitation, Mr Lawrence: tap dance, Mr Oossins; song, Mr Shearer: orchestra. Ken Brown’s. At the end of the evening, Mr J. W. Hider, chairman of the School Oommlttee, thanked those present for their attendance and their support of an effort to aid the school funds.
