Points Secured in Grade Competitions. The second round of the grade swimming competitions was completed on Saturday at the Beckenham and Phillipstown Baths. Results at Beckenham were;—First grade Christchurchrnited 32 points, Elmwood 21 points. Second grade—Christchurch-United 26, Klmwood 24. Third grade—Elmwood 34, Beckenham 14. Fourth grade— Somerfield 32, Linwood 30. Fifth grade —Somerfield 34, Linwood 26; Elmwood 52, Syftnliam 31. Women’s grade, division A—Elmwood 40i, ChristchurchUnited 211. Division B —Phillipstown 37, Hornby 25. Opawa Club. The Opawa Amateur Hwimming Club opened its season on Saturday afternoon by the patron of the club, Mr L. \nnand. Mr Annand said that in the early ; tages of its existence the club had een a strong one, with an exceptionlily big membership, but during and ifter the war it bad slipped bark I'adly. Lately, however, efforts had >een made to raise the < lub to its former status, and the junior members were being encouraged. The lub was now rapidly being built up to its former strength.
