Chinese General Explains Nation’s Attitude. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, This Day. On board the Makura is Colonel Tsen Shao Chiu, of the Chinese Army, who has been making a world tour. He is a product of German and French military schools, and took part in the hostilities with Japan. He expressed the hope that there would be peace between China and Japan. lie said that the Chinese did not want to be aggressors; they only wanted to be able to defend themselves in any outbreak of war. General Chiu will spend two weeks in Australia before proceeding on to China. lie was in Germany, but did not see Hitler; but he did see Mussobni when in Italy, and was much impressed with the Dictator. General Chiu has been absent from China for nine months and has learned much about various countries.
