MINISTERIAL. The Prime Minister, the Right Hon G. \Y. Forbes, visited Akaroa yester day. and left by the night train for Invercargill last night, to attend the Royal Show. The Hon J. A. Young, Minister of Health, returned to Wellington on Saturday evening. Mr Robert B. Bell (Timaru) is staying at the United Service Hotel. Mr A. Kiner (Wellington) is a guest at the Royal Hotel. Mr Harry Stuart, Middleton, is at present in St George’s Hospital where he has undergone a successful operation Mr Justice Frazer returned to Christchurch from the West Coast on Saturday and will leave for the north tonight.
Messrs F. S. Arthur (7 unedin), J M’Gregor (Mosgiel) and J. W. Ellison (Dunedin) are staying at the Clarendon Hotel.
Mr F. D. Thomson. C.M.G., permanent head of the Prime Minister’s Department, underwent an operation in a private hospital in Wellington at the weekend.
Mr S. W. M. Stilling, who for several years was the New Zealand represenative of the Australian National Travel Association, has returned to the Jenolan Caves as manager, which position he held prior to his appointment to New Zealand.
The Rev Father Louis G. Loughnan, S.J., headmaster of Riverview College, Sydney, is visiting Christchurch after an absence of twenty-seven years. He is on a health-recruiting trip and expects to be in New Zealand for about a month. He is a native of Christchurch.
Dr G. M. Park, of St Louis, United States of America, arrived in Christchurch yesterday. Dr Park has included a stay of more than a month in New Zealand as part of a year’s holiday’, during which he will travel extensively in the countries bordering the Pacific.
Guests at the New City Hotel include Messrs Bruno Beyer (Berlin), JT. Price (Timaru), L. 11. Froude (Dunedin), C. A. Tomlin (Palmerston North), A. 11. M’Guire (Feilding), Eric Hunter (Ilawarden), C. A. Cadwaller (Foxton), C. N. Watts (Invercargill). R. V. Brown (Levin). lan P. Martin (Wellington) and W. Williamson (Ashburton).
Lieutenant-Commissioner F. HAdams, the new head of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, arrived from Wellington with Mrs Adams yesterday morning. They attended services at the Army Citadel yesterday. To-day they were accorded a civic reception, and this evening there will be a public welcome in the Army Citadel. They will leave for the south to-morrow.
