UNIVERSITY TENNIS.
N.Z. Team to Tour Australia.
J. J. M Carthy, of Wellington, will replace A. R. Cant (Canterbury) in the New Zealand University tennis team which will leave for Sydney and Melbourne on Wednesday. The selectors of the team held that Cant was ineligible as he is no longer a member of the Students’ Association. The team will be as follows:—H. A. Barnett, B. A. Barrer, R. A. Young (Canterbury) and J. J. M’Carthy (Wellington). Mr R. Browning will be manager.
Ihe tour has been financed by the following bodies:—The New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association, the New Zealand University Students’ Association, the C anterbury College Students’ Association and the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association.
Mr R. A. Y oung, who has organised the tour, this morning expressed the team's thanks for the help it had received. Mr F. J. Murray, he said, had made a substantial donation towards the expenses.
