REVIVAL OF POLO.
Club to Lease Ground in Hagley Park.
A further move towards the revival of polo in Christchurch was indicated by the decision of the Domains Board yesterday afternoon approving of terms for the lease of portion of South Hagley Park to the Christchurch Polo Club.
The report of the Sports Ground Committee, which was adopted by the board, stated that the chairman (Mr H. Kitson) had conferred with representatives of the club and it was recommended that the offer to rent an area in the south park should be accepted, the term of occupation to be twelve months provided that the club paid a rental of £ls per annum, arranged with the present essees, Messrs Pyne, Gould, Guinness. Ltd., for any compensation for loss of grazing rights and furnished guarantees to pay the rent stated for three years, always provided that the playing area was available.
In addition to the adoption of these recommendations it was also decided that the board should re-erect the fence round the polo area that had been removed about two years ago. the cost being estimated at 22s per chain for forty-one chains.
