Several Horses Worked Auckland Way Round. It was inclined to be cool early at Riccarton this morning, but conditions were perfect for galloping apart from the hardness of the grass tracks. For fast work, the plough and the No. G grass were again available. Galloping the reverse way was permitted between 5 a.m. and 5.30 a.m. Variant and Ilostis worked usefully l on the plough, on which Chidden ran . seven furlongs in lmin 32 l-ssec and completed a mile in lmin 47 2-ssec. On the No. 6, Penelope ran half a mile in 49 3-ssec. Cleaner and Maroha ; ran seven furlongs in lmin 31 2-ssec. i the first six in lmin 17 2-ssec. During the breakfast interval. Great Star also worked the reverse way. j covering seven furlongs on the plough J at three-quarter pace. All of the others worked the left- : handed way. On the plough, Horotiu ! did an easy half-mile. Orris and laloux ran seven furlongs ! in lmin 31 3-sscc. Cricket Bat and Rocket were associated over nine furlongs. They ran the first six in lmin 21 sec, and finished together in lmin 59 3-ssec. Horn’s Reef and Knock Out ran seven furlongs in *lmin 31 l-osec. Night Gem and Riptide were a ■ couple of lengths in front of Gas Mask j at the end of five furlongs run in lmin ; 3 4-ssec. Ilorowhenua and Free Air went j seven furlongs in lmin 33 2-osec. Doiran beat Strong Light over six | furlongs in lmin 20 3-ssec. Haere Tonu and Ranclagh did well j to run six furlongs in lmin 10 4-ssec. j Jerry Boy got over six furlongs in | lmin ISsec. Heather Glow ran half a mile in 51 I 3-ssec, while Azevedo went a furlong ! further in lmin 3 3-ssec. j Scratchmere Scar and Ellcrton galloped half a mile in 50 2-osec. On the No. G. In the second session on the plough. , Cranford ran six furlongs in lmin IS sec. Grecian Prince took lmin 18 2-5 J sec. Mr George Gould was present to see ; Fiat Lux beat Highbrow over six furlongs in lmin 19 3-ssec. Southdown jumped away from the mile and after going a furlong was joined by Sam Smith. Southdown finished in front in lmin 44see. Capital was let off with an easy six furlongs. Half-mile efforts were carried out by « Top Rank 50 3-ssec, Milnrow and Convivial 50 3-ssec, Quebec and First View 49 4-ssec, Quietly and Fairway j 51 3-ssec, and Cheap Money and i Battle Queen 51 3-ssec.
