The Band of the Grenadier Guards. which was to have arrived in Christchurch on Christmas Day. has now deferred its arrival until December 26 owing to the refusal of the City Council to grant permission for a sacred Concert on Christmas Night. The bandSmen will be guests at the New (‘ity Ilotel during their stay in the City. At the animal meeting of the South Canterbury Automobile Association, the following officers were elected: Patrons, Messrs A. S. Elworthy. A. Hope. and I{. A. Let‘ren: president, Mr J. M. Bridges: aurlitor, Mr A. C. Martin. It was (lecided to change the name of the assor‘iation to the Autumubile Association, South Canterbury, incorporated.
