Serious Unemployment in U.S.A. United Press Assn. —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. WASHINGTON, November 29. The problem of providing relief for the huge army of unemployed in the United States during the coming winter will be the most serious in the country’s history, according to a statement contained in the American Federation of Labour’s monthly survey, published to-day. The survey declares that the total unemployed in October numbered 10,671,000, which is 550,000 more than in October, 1933, although there was some improvement from the year’s peak of 11.755,000 in January, 1934. The survey says that business activity in October was 2.6 per cent below that of the corresponding period of 1933.
